The first semester here is nearly over--though I'm still getting used to the idea that final essays are due after the break--and I have quite a bit of work to knock out still. The to-do lists are thick on the ground. Ideally, I'll be able to write the final two seminar essays over the course of the remaining days here; I have meetings to propose topics for both on tomorrow and Thursday, respectively.
If I can get that done, I'll be working on magazine business (edits, etc) on the long flight back. And I have a contract project to finish, also, that I'm growing ever more sure is going to be late--which, with this particular project, isn't catastrophic or anything. It's just frustrating. Oh, and small things: roundups for the year's reading I've agreed to participate in, that kind of stuff.
The glamour, etc.
At some point, I will try to blog about the current State of Things with regard to various careers, life paths, and the beast that is academia. In brief: it's all sort of up in the air, what the fuck I intend to do for the next five years or longer. The only certainties are that I'll be going home and finishing the last year at UofL as a GTA to complete that MA program. And that I'll then be taking at least a year off to either teach, or work at a bookstore again, or do SOMETHING ELSE while I decide about the future.
Because previous best-laid plans ain't going to cut it.
