For Joanna Russ's birthday, Tor.com asked me to write a tribute of some kind--so, I wrote her a fan-letter. I worry that it's too formal, but I also wanted it to be readable in the context of the "Lit Calendar" that the post is part of; either way, here it is.

I'm still fairly euphoric about and/or too stunned to process the Nebula nomination. There are dreams and aspirations that I think it's perfectly natural to have, when you're part of a given field--milestones, if you will--and while hitting a Nebula ballot was certainly one of my stretch-goals, I had no idea it would be soon. I was thinking maybe in, like, a decade.

So, it's a surprise. A distinctly awesome surprise, that I'm processing slowly.

Also, I have to figure out what to wear to the soiree. I'm thinking a suit, but I have plenty of time to decide.
